The next edition of Startup WRO Meetup is on Thursday. They will talk about project financing

20.04.2024

Students, entrepreneurs and future founders will have a chance to gain valuable tips and support for the development of their projects from the world of technology. Opportunities for their financing in the early stages is the topic of the sixth meeting of the Startup WRO Meetup series. This time it will be held under the motto "Meet the VC's".

Startup WRO Meetup is a content-networking meeting for startups, entrepreneurs and technology enthusiasts. The sixth meeting of this series organized by Startup Wroclaw will already take place on April 25, 2024 at Basecamp Student on Sienkiewicza Street in Wroclaw.

Without funding there will be no success

This time experts will talk about the possibilities of financing projects in their early stages.

“The Polish market is still dominated by seed investments. In 2023, 380 transactions of this nature were carried out. This is a decrease from the previous year by 7%. We will talk about how to reverse this trend with representatives of various VC funds.”
– Maciej Jacenik from Startup Wroclaw

Participants of the meeting will also be able to find out whether representatives of VC funds have an idea to disenchant the seed / pre-seed market, where they look for promising projects and who the ideal founder is for them.

They used to evaluate, now they will present their own achievements

The event’s schedule also includes Reverse Pitching, during which representatives of local VC funds will present their offerings in a typical startup format, i.e. a five-minute presentation in front of the assembled audience. They will tell what companies they have in their portfolios, in what industries, teams, technologies and how much they invest. This is a unique opportunity to learn a little more about them, in a formula in which they themselves have evaluated hundreds of startups.

“Running a VC fund, especially at the preseed/seed stage is really like running a bookmobile. We’re in a business where really our only job is to evaluate whether an entity, or a person or a team, will prove what it has promised us.”
Maciej Siemaszko, Managing Partner Ekipa Investment

A mix of inspiration with a pinch of show

According to Maciej Jacenik, this is one of the last opportunities to refine and gather feedback on your project before Evolutions: Meetup & Showcase.

“It will be the perfect mix of inspiration for creating authentic solutions and raising real money, as well as a presentation of business models that work. All this sprinkled with a pinch of show.” – Maciej Jacenik
