Wroclaw Smart City: what is the city doing?
Wrocław has for years been at the forefront of cities in Poland betting on the development of the Smart City idea. A 2022 study by the Startup Poland foundation found that Wrocław is the country’s strongest ecosystem for supporting young technology companies from around the world. The report “Polish Startups 2022” shows that Wroclaw and Lower Silesia have special reasons to be happy, because it is here that the largest number of technological companies in Poland are registered.
Deeptraffic what is it?
A technological solution originating from Greece, “Deeptraffic 101,” is currently being tested in the city. The platform uses cooperative intelligent transportation systems (C-ITS) technology to manage traffic.
Testing of the solution is taking place in Wroclaw, thanks to the fact that the city has actively joined the Concordia Design Accelerator program, an acceleration program for startups from abroad. It is run by Concordia Design Wroclaw and co-financed by the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP).
“The most important stage is the testing of the driver application by Wroclaw citizens themselves. We would like them to share their opinion about it. This will suggest to the startup’s founders how to develop their product, and to the city it will indicate whether it is worth continuing the cooperation long-term.”
– says Ewa Kaucz, head of Concordia Design Accelerator and managing director of Concordia Design Wroclaw
The deeptraffic app is being tested in Wroclaw: current traffic situation, traffic jams and obstructions
The application testing area has been significantly expanded. Its northwestern border is marked by the A8 highway, the southern border by the E40 road and the Eastern Ring Road of Wroclaw. The eastern boundary is marked by Bora – Komorowskiego Street, Taras Shevchenko Street, Wilczycka Street and the Eastern Bypass of Wroclaw.
Deeptraffic provides information on current traffic conditions, travel times, events and incidents (e.g. road works) to help you navigate Wroclaw on a daily basis.
The platform provides the ability to actively engage individual traffic users. An example of practical use of the application is when drivers receive advance information about an unexpected traffic event such as an accident, which gives them time to choose an alternative route to get there. Such a decision, made well in advance, allows to relieve traffic congestion and makes city traffic smoother.
The deeptraffic app can be downloaded via Google Play.
