Young, talented, and ambitious – four graduates from Wrocław identified a gap in language education and created Polimio, an intelligent, multilingual dictionary that had been missing until now. Polimio, which already has thousands of users around the world, shows that language innovations from Poland can conquer international markets.

Wrocław graduates conquer the world with the Polimio dictionary

Polimio is a smart, multilingual dictionary and language learning tool that uses artificial intelligence (AI). Adam Bicz, programmer, graduate of Wrocław University of Technology, and co-creator of the dictionary, emphasizes that traditional online dictionaries are full of advertisements, difficult to read, and often fail to provide context.

“Meanwhile, the dictionary is the most frequently chosen tool for language learning – as many as 57% of students use it every day,” he adds.

It is already clear that the Polimio dictionary is quickly conquering the US, where almost 30% of its users come from, mainly students and people learning foreign languages.

Polimio. What does it offer and what possibilities does it provide?

Polimio is the first intelligent AI dictionary, covering over 30 languages and over 1,000 translation combinations. Unlike translators such as Google Translate or DeepL, it understands living language, collocations, and contemporary usage. Instead of just translating, it teaches and reinforces vocabulary through content recommendations, search history, and personalization. It contains no ads, covers rare languages (such as Latin and Japanese), and its interface remains simple and clear. As its creators emphasize, Polimio combines the best features of Facebook (infinite scroll with valuable content), Wikipedia (reliable materials), and ChatGPT (intelligent content generation).

Language learning with Polimio and artificial intelligence

“Polimio learns based on your searches and behavior—it gets better with every click,” emphasizes Aleksandra Dykta, co-creator of the Polimio dictionary.

What languages can we learn with Polimio and what does the dictionary offer?

The app allows you to learn both the most popular languages (English, Spanish) and those that are more difficult to access (Arabic, Georgian, Korean). Thanks to AI, each session becomes more personalized and learning more effective.

Polimio offers:

  • contextual translations with correct pronunciation,
  • definitions and examples,
voice search and saving words for review,
  • a spaced repetition system that supports effective retention.

Each “like/dislike” click tailors the results to the user, allowing the app to learn along with them. This solution not only helps you quickly check a word, but above all, it builds a personal mental lexicon.

Is Polimio free?
Polimio is currently free to use.

We do not display ads. We plan to introduce paid premium features in the future, such as personalized learning paths, course generation, and statistics, according to the dictionary’s creators.

Who are the creators of Polimio?

The dictionary was created by four Wrocław university graduates. Their diverse experiences in technology, business, and teaching have come together in a project that aims to become one of the world’s leaders.

  • Adam Bicz – programmer, graduate of the Wrocław University of Technology, with experience in Dubai and Germany, among other places,
  • Bartłomiej Postek – graduate of the University of Economics, entrepreneur in the edtech industry,
  • Aleksandra Dykta – English teacher from the University of Wrocław, author of the first Polish e-textbook accredited by the Ministry of National Education, winner of the European Language Label award from the Council of Europe,
  • Michał Jaworski – graduate of the University of Economics, startup entrepreneur, active in the edTech sector.

Polimio goes global

According to the dictionary’s creators, the project already has thousands of users around the world and its first institutional support – a grant of PLN 400,000 as part of an acceleration program run by SWPS University. The creators’ ambition is for Polimio to become one of the most popular dictionaries in the world within a few years.
