From the point of view of the Wroclaw-based company, this is a historic achievement, as it is the first satellite of its kind built by SatRev. And this means that the SOWA-1 mission opens up new opportunities for scientific research, Earth observation and more.
SatRev launches SOWA-1 satellite
Grzegorz Zwolinski emphasises that he is looking forward to the moment when the new SatRev satellite will be launched as part of the SOWA-1 mission.
-As our experience shows, with each step we are on the path to more and more advanced solutions that redefine SpaceTech standards, and this is already a big step forward, adds Zwolinski.
Satellite 6U – what does it mean?
The 6U (6 litre capacity) is twice the size of the existing 3U satellites built by SatRev.
- 3U dimensions: 100 mm × 100 mm × 340.5 mm
- 6U dimensions: 200 mm × 100 mm × 340.5 mm
SOWA-1 use and details of the SatRev satellite
- imaging the Earth’s surface for urban planning, agriculture, administration, nature conservation, infrastructure, etc.
- the 6U size – compared to the previous generation – allows additional modules to be accommodated, thus extending the satellite’s capabilities and increasing its on-orbit advantage for future missions.
The SOWA-1 satellite will be used for advanced observation purposes – mainly Earth Observation, it will transmit higher resolution images thanks to the advanced technology on board the satellite and thus process the acquired images while still in orbit.
When will the SOWA-1 satellite be launched?
The mission is scheduled for May/June 2024 and the satellite will be launched aboard a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) rocket with the caveat that it is dependent on, among other things, all necessary weather conditions being met to ensure a safe and successful launch.
SatRev company from Wroclaw is conquering space
SatRev S.A. is a space company founded in 2016 in Wrocław, Poland, specialising in the design, manufacture and operation of nanosatellites and expertise in data analysis.
- To date, SatRev has successfully sent 11 satellites into Earth’s orbit.
SatRev satellites can be used to solve resource utilisation and optimisation problems in a wide range of issues such as precision agriculture, energy resource assessment, and transport infrastructure monitoring.
SatRevolution S.A. was founded in June 2016 by Grzegorz Zwolinski, Damian Fijałkowski and Radosław Łapczyński, creators of Wrocław-based T-Bull S.A., a leading Polish mobile game developer.
