Sky Tower collaborates with Wroclaw startup

26.10.2023

A skilled eye can spot something on the glass walls of the city's tallest building.... strange, unusual thing moving upward on the glass panes. What is it? We explain: it is a special machine that washes the facade of the Wroclaw skyscraper. And it does so up to 10 times faster than a human. Here are the details.

The Sky Tower is a very tall building – washing its facade is a major undertaking.

“Since 2018, the building has been partnered with a Polish startup – Proteco Machines, which has created a breakthrough technology for washing the facade with a machine! Over the next few months, we will be able to watch the Wroclaw-based invention climb over 200 meters on the facade!”
– reports Sky Tower

The innovative method uses a washing machine that is suspended from a special crane with a winch on the roof of the skyscraper. The machine moves vertically, thoroughly washing the facade. To do this, it is equipped with brushes and nozzles for spraying water supplied from a station on the building’s roof and a special system for dispensing two types of chemicals.

“We are extremely excited that it is the Sky Tower that is the tallest building in Europe on which modern technology straight from Wroclaw is being used. Our building is an icon of Wroclaw, so we are constantly striving to apply innovative solutions – also in the field of cleaning.”
– Jerzy Marek from Sky Tower

The current facade cleaning technology at Sky Tower is primarily the result of Polish know-how. The machine is equipped with advanced systems and allows washing the facade up to 10 times faster than a human, and only 1-2 people are needed to operate it.

The new version of the invention, which was introduced this fall, allows even more efficient and precise cleaning of the facade. The work of the machine will be observed over the coming months….
