– the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia opens up for new technologies

In February 2022, Informa Markets and the Saudi Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) organised the LEAP trade show for the first time.

This event will go down in history as the largest debut tech event, attracting more than 100,000 visitors.

Over three days, more than 700 global exhibiting companies, 330+ top investors and over 500 global CEOs and experts discussed the latest topics and developments in emerging technologies.

More than 700 exhibitors attended the first LEAP exhibition, including companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Cisco, SAP, Ericsson, Vmware, Nutanix, Software AG, Huawei, STC, Mobily, HPE, Nokia and DELL.

500+ world-class speakers including Börje Ekholm – CEO at Ericsson, Christian Klein – CEO at SAP, Raghu Raghuram – CEO at VMware, Eugene Kaspersky – Co-Founder and CEO at Kaspersky, Guillaume Pousaz – CEO at Checkout.com, Ricky Corker – Chief Customer Experience Officer at Nokia shared their insights and inspirational stories during exciting sessions.

Over 400 international start-ups took up the gauntlet in the struggle to win The Rocket Fuel Start-up Pitch Competition with a prize pool of $1 million!

400+ powerful venture capitals, private equities, angel and private investors from across the world sought unique and innovative ideas among young companies from the area of emerging technologies.

The huge success of the event has prompted plans for the next edition. Even bigger and better, the LEAP exhibition is a manifestation of Saudi Vision 2030, to make the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia an epicentre for technology. The second edition of LEAP offers all participants a platform to showcase their tech and innovation ideas to a very large audience. The event also promises to connect them with some of the most powerful tech buyers and the world’s leading industry partners.

#LEAP23 for start-ups

The organisers are well aware of the potential hidden in young companies and so they have prepared special exhibition zones and exceptional conditions for participation. More than 10,000m 2 of floor area in exhibition halls will be dedicated to showcasing the offer of start-up companies. The location of these zones ensures very high visibility and will create favourable conditions for networking with influential tech buyers, administration representatives (government side) and key investors. The organiser will also provide visibility on the website, in social media and in marketing campaigns. In addition, each start-up zone exhibitor will be included in a company-investor matchmaking programme. The programme facilitates arrangement of meetings via an online platform. During last year’s edition, each start-up met with 5-6 investors on average.

The Rocket Fuel Start-up Pitch Competition

The LEAP Rocket Fuel Start-up Pitch Competition is back with the second edition, more exciting and thrilling than ever.

LEAP trade show organisers are on the hunt for 90 semi-finalists to take the LEAP Investor Stage live in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 6-8 February 2023.

The presentations will be judged by 36 prominent investors, entrepreneurs and technology experts from around the world. The top 15 will qualify for the Grand Finale on 9 February 2023 to compete once again for amazing awards.

The Judges of the Grand Finale are:

  • GHAZAL ALAGH, co-founder of the Mamaearth unicorn and Judge on Shark Tank India
  • KARREN BRADY CBE, Vice-Chairwoman of West Ham United and aide to Alan Sugar on BBC’s The Apprentice
  • JAMES CAAN CBE, entrepreneur, businessman, investor and former Dragon on BBC’s Dragons’ Den
  • STEVEN BARTLETT, entrepreneur, investor, podcaster and current Dragon on BBC’s Dragons’ Den

LEAP’s Rocket Fuel Start-up Pitch Competition has six different categories:

  • for the strongest, most outstanding start-up,
  • for the start-up beginning their journey,
  • for the best, most innovative start-up pioneered by women founders,
  • for the start-up that best embodies the “tech for humanity” spirit of LEAP,
  • for the most impressive start-up occupying the Metaverse and Web 3.0 space,
  • for the start-up that presents the most exciting, ground-breaking usage of artificial intelligence.

In addition to the main competition for start-ups, government competitions will also be organised. Information about these will be provided by the event Organiser on an ongoing basis.
