25.10.2024

Five young technology companies participated in the Tech Contest competition, which took place during the gala concluding this year's edition of Made in Wroclaw. The winner was the startup BangProof, which specializes in producing comfortable helmets that look like a cap or a hat. As a prize, its creators received PLN 30,000, funded by Przedsiębiorczy Wrocław and the city treasurer. Made in Wroclaw is a unique event that showcases what drives Wrocław’s business scene. Once again this year, a key part of the event was the Tech Contest, where young technology companies competed. The final of the competition featured five Lower Silesian startups: SmartyMeet, TerraEye, BangProof, Spinetime, and Spectrally. Each had the opportunity to present their business ideas to a wider audience. The winners also received attractive cash prizes.

They beat AI

The first place was awarded to BangProof, which received PLN 30,000, funded by Przedsiębiorczy Wrocław and the city treasurer, Marcin Urban.

“I’m very impressed. This award is amazing. We produce helmets that look like a cap or a hat. We competed here with people working on artificial intelligence and highly advanced technologies, yet we won. It’s incredible!”
Michał Broniewicz, BangProof

Second place for a deep tech company

The second place was awarded to Spectrally, a deep tech company that develops equipment for monitoring chemical substances and analyzing their composition. Their prize was PLN 15,000, funded by Startup Wrocław.

“I’m very happy with this award because it recognizes the work of a large team. Since we are a big group with extensive skills in mechanics, optics, and programming, understanding our product is not easy. That’s why this second-place recognition is a huge honor for us.”
Karolina Orłowska, Spectrally

Medical achievements recognized

Also making it to the podium was Spinetime, the creator of the REHApp application, which received PLN 10,000, funded by JWW Accounting Office.

“We are currently developing an application for spine diagnostics and automated therapy. We have already conducted research and scientifically proven that it works. Now, we are preparing for commercialization. This award will definitely help us speed up the process.”
Andrzej Studziński, Spinetime

This time, the jury did not choose an it solution

According to Aleksander Widawski, Vice President of JWW and a member of the Tech Contest jury, selecting the winning startup was a tough decision, leading to long deliberations.

“The level of startups was really high. It wasn’t easy, but we decided on a startup that produces a tangible product, not just an IT solution. It’s something that can contribute to the world and improve people’s safety.”
Aleksander Widawski

Two special awards

Two special awards were also presented. BangProof received a special prize funded by Basck, while Spinetime was honored with the Responsible Business Award from Intel Corporation.

The awards ceremony took place during the Made in Wroclaw – Business Gala & Tech Contest, held at The Bridge Wrocław – MGallery on Ostrów Tumski. The event was attended by investors, startup representatives, local government officials, university representatives, and business leaders.
