#1 Startup Wro Meetup
– We talked about money

03.03.2023

First Startup WRO meetup has happened! More than 150 new technology creators, founders, investors, representatives of the business world and Wroclaw universities met for the first meeting in Barbara after a three-year pandemic break!
Check out what they discussed and where to look for development funding this year!

There is no shortage of available financing options for startups on the market. Venture capital, business angels, accelerator programs or European funds, among others, are available to young innovative entrepreneurs. They can also take advantage of new financing options such as crowdfunding and competitions that offer young companies even more benefits and opportunities for growth.

It was the search for the right funding option and how to make these funds as much as possible that startup owners, new technology creators, founders, as well as scientists and students discussed on Friday, February 24 in Wroclaw’s “Barbara”.

“Startup WRO Meetup will be a year-long series, and I hope it will run even further into the future. We are very happy to be able to return to this formula of meetings with startups after a long break caused by, among other things, pandemonium. As befits the startup capital of Poland, our integration is already an advantage and a hallmark of the Wroclaw ecosystem. We want to continue to improve it so that even more people can meet with each other. During the first meetup we talked about money. Not an easy thing, but hugely important. Especially in the context of the approaching difficult times. We came to the conclusion that product and talent are the most important, and there is no shortage of such in Wroclaw.”
– Magdalena Okulowska, President of the Board of the Wrocław Agglomeration Development Agency

Startups presented their projects and talked about successes

Experts mainly discussed funding opportunities for young technology companies and this year’s prospects for raising funds for research and enterprise development. In addition, the organizers invited startups to present their products in front of a wider audience.

“According to the Startup Poland report, Wrocław is the city where the most technology companies are created, and we as Bank BNP Paribas want to be close to this environment. That’s why we are here.”
– Magdalena Dobrantz-Pośnik, expert on New Business Models, BNP Paribas Bank

The meeting was attended by many innovative entrepreneurs, who had a chance to talk about their projects and how they achieved financial success. The Startup WRO Meetup stage featured Madnetic Games and NanoSci, among others.

“I am the co-founder of NanoSci, a company that has patented one of the most groundbreaking technologies to simultaneously clean the air of viruses, bacteria, mold and gaseous components of smog. Thanks to us, the world will be a healthier place to live.”
– Radek Miszczak, CEO of NanoSci

The meeting was attended not only by members of the Wroclaw startup ecosystem, but also by foreign guests from Israel, the UK and the Czech Republic.
