“Play for mentorship”

Wednesday 22 June was the next edition of the competition "Play for mentoring", organised by inQUBE University Business Incubator at Wrocław University of Economics and Sebastian Kulczyk's InCredibles. During the finals, as many as eight start-ups launching innovative technological solutions presented their business idea in front of the competition jury.

The main prize in this competition was participation in InCredibles, a comprehensive, tailor-made acceleration and mentoring programme launched by Sebastian Kulczyk in 2017.

The ‘Play for Mentorship’ competition is aimed at young innovators with extraordinary ideas who aim to overcome technological challenges and solve business problems. As many as 33 companies from all over Poland entered the competition, including as many as six representatives of Wrocław University of Economics. The competition’s chapter selected eight companies from among the submitted proposals, which qualified for the final stage and presented their ideas during the finals held at the inQUBE headquarters in Wrocław.

The competition chapter included representatives of universities, local government institutions and business:
Krzysztof Górka (President of the Management Board of DFR Inwestycyjny Sp. z o.o.); Anna Górecka (Director of the Academic Business Incubator of Wrocław University of Technology); Łukasz Wojdyła (Director of the FinTech and eCommerce Technology Department, Alior Bank); Dominik Marzec (Director in the Business Support Department, Wrocław Park). Entrepreneurship Support Department, Wrocław Technology Park); Renata Biadała (Project Manager of the project ‘I’ve got an Idea for a Startup, Łódź City Hall); Mikołaj Kołaczek (Project Manager of the project ‘I’ve got an Idea for a Startup, Łódź City Hall); Jan Jakub Cendrowski (Director of the University Entrepreneurship Incubator inQUBE, Wrocław University of Economics).

The winner was the ‘Gallio’ project presented by startup Trasee, whose originators are Mateusz Zimoch, Łukasz Bonczol, Piotr Zieliński, Barłomiej Kurzeja and Bartosz Gierczak. “Gallio is a comprehensive solution for video anonymisation. Trasee’s mission is to develop technology using video analytics for detection, tracking, counting and measurement.

– Winning the ‘Play for Mentorship’ competition organised by inQUBE and getting into the InCredibles programme is a great opportunity for us to turn our small startup of a few people into a company that sells its products worldwide. We look forward to mentoring from professionals, gaining knowledge on scaling our business and growing it, as well as networking. We hope to gain numerous business contacts through this programme to become a ‘unicorn’,” said Trasee CEO Mateusz Zimoch.

Exceptionally, one award was also given. It was awarded to Siddarth Agrawal with his idea LabPlus, which aims to improve laboratory diagnostics. In addition to the two winners, the following companies also qualified for the final: Moniti, SeedsBot, Share.P, Playmaker.Pro, Airflo and INKsearch.co.

The inQUBE University Business Incubator at the Wrocław University of Economics was established to support the business aspirations of students, graduates, academics and budding entrepreneurs in the ICT sector.
A team of experts from various fields collaborates with the Wrocław Incubator. They are both scientists and business practitioners who provide substantive support to people planning and developing their business activities. inQUBE is also a modern space, being a part of the campus of the largest economic university in Lower Silesia, which is a place to meet, work and learn.
